About
In this era of the Industry 5.0 revolution, I bring a unique perspective to the table, drawing from my extensive two-decade maritime experience. My approach is to seamlessly integrate collaborative technologies into the maritime, ocean, and offshore energy industries. I envision a future where technology enhances human potential, and I strongly advocate for design that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Human-Centric Innovation: My global navigation experience has instilled a firm belief that technology should enhance, not complicate, maritime operations. I champion ergonomic and usability principles for safer, more efficient futures. I have led projects to improve user experiences of maritime technology and crafted various books and articles with the Nautical Institute and SIGTTO.
Strategic Value Creation: Leveraging Industry 5.0, I work to build resilient, human-centered value in the maritime, ocean, and offshore energy industries by improving operational safety, efficiency, and sustainability. I have extensive experience managing cross-functional teams in maritime technology and strategy implementation and development.
I believe that:
"The vessel and its systems are only as resilient as the crew's understanding and ability to safely operate them."
Policies on maritime safety need to center on desired outcomes and goals rather than past and current technologies that will soon be outdated.
Enhancing situational awareness and operational accuracy happens through creating better sociotechnical systems and nurturing the next generation of maritime leaders.
Research: I seek participants from corporate boards and executive roles in the ocean sector. I aim to publish transformative insights in strategic management that drive our industry toward creating strategic value and investment in sustainable, human-centric, and resilient systems, aligning technological advancements with the Sustainable Development Goals. While my PhD has not received funding, I have contributed to internationally funded research projects focusing on advancing the human-centered adoption of technology in shipping and human factors integration.
Board and Advisory Roles: My studies and work experience position me to drive transformation in advisory capacities, embedding human-centric approaches in strategic decision-making.
I invite collaboration with those with a strategic, sustainable growth vision as we transition to a more resilient maritime future. Together, we can harness the power of technology, guided by human insight, goals, and creativity.
